Arabia

Skandium is the exclusive agent for the Finnish ceramic brand Arabia in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. Current Arabia series include the popular Moomin mugs, 24h by Heikki Orvola, KoKo by Kristina Riska & Kati Tuominen-Niittylä and Paratiisi by Birger Kaipiainen. Arabia is part of the Iittala Group and many former Arabia products are nowadays sold under the Iittala brand name, including the Teema series.

Arabia was founded in Helsinki in 1873 and the factory is still located there. After the Second World War Arabia gained widespread recognition for its aesthetic output with Kaj Franck as chief designer. Frank sought to mass-produce well-designed everyday wares. One of his best-known designs was his ‘mix-and-match’ Kilta dinnerware service, which was in production from 1953 to 1974.
