What started as a glass factory in the small village of Iittala, Finland in 1881, today represents several generations of Scandinavian design icons made in both glass, ceramics and stainless steel. The international breakthrough for Iittala came in the early 1950s with designs by Tapio Wirkkala and Timo Sarpaneva. Key pieces in the collection include the Alvar Aalto vases and Aino Aalto glassware, Kaj Franck glassware and ceramics, Oiva Toikka mouthblown Birds and Antonio Citterio kitchenware. Today, Iittala is a leading Scandinavian design brand and a firm favourite at Skandium.
