Matti Klenell is a Swedish designer, who has become known for his innovative take on the Scandinavian idea of the intrinsic link between form and function. Klenell likes to see every project as a unique journey, and the colourful birds he has created for Iittala make the most of the skills of the Nuutajärvi Glass works. Glass is a familiar material to Klenell and one in which he excels, as his exhibition of unique glass pieces in Stockholm in 2008 showed. Despite his youth, Matti Klenell has already made quite a name for himself, winning the prestigious Ljunggren Design Prize in 2003. In addition to glass, Klenell has designed furniture and lighting, and his customers include BRIO, Moooi, Muuto, Offecct, and Bals Tokyo.
