Caravaggio pendant lamp matt tones

By Fritz Hansen Lighting

  • Description

Ever since Cecilie Manz created the Caravaggio™ lamp in 2005 it has inhabited private homes and illuminated public spaces like no other. With its simple, elegant and recognisable shape it has set the standard as a new classic in lighting design. In this line extension we have kept the shape and merely changed the colour of the shades. For Cecilie Manz, working with colour is a constant journey of maturing. Over time she will collect and create confidence with a certain tone.

    Cecilie Manz

Cecilie Manz was born in the Odsherred region of Denmark. As the child of parents occupied with art and design, designing always formed a natural part of her life. She chose design as her living when she began studying at the Danish School of Design in 1992. Her great interest for function and conceptualization took her further as an exchange student to Helsinki where she attended the Finnish University of Art and Design. In 1998, she started her own studio, Manz Lab, the centre of her work ever since.

Cecilie Manz' strong feeling for functionality and insistence on quality made her an obvious choice for Fritz Hansen. Already, Cecilie Manz has exhibited all over the world and is permanently represented in the exhibitions of MoMA and the Danish Design Centre. She has been awarded several significant prizes for her conceptual design.
