Considered one of the great icons of design, Eero Saarinen’s multi award-winning Tulip Side Chair is characterised by the instantly recognisable cup-shaped frame, emphasised by the reduction of support to a single stem and its distinctive Kvadrat Divina upholstery.
Designed in 1957 as part of the famous Pedestal collection that vowed to address the ‘ugly, confusing, unrestful world’ underneath tables and tables, the Tulip Side Chair consists of a sweeping swivel base of die-cast aluminium lacquered in white and is coated with a protective Rilsan finish.
Crafted from moulded fiberglass, the distinctively shaped seat shell is accented with a removable foam seat pad, upholstered in Kvadrat’s premium Divina fabric, woven from 100% soft wool and designed by artist Finn Sködt.

Eero Saarinen, born in 1910 in Kirkkonummi, Finland, as the son of the architect Eliel Saarinen, studied sculpture in 1929 and 1930 at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiére in Paris before studying architecture at Yale University in New Haven
