The Doo Wop pendant lamp is a real classic since the 1950s. It has been developed in cooperation between Søværnets Bygningsdistrikt (building management of the Danish marine) and Louis Poulsen. The Doo Wop was used at Danish marine buildings for many years and the most different purposes, for example in the canteen and offices.
The "marine pendant lamp", as it is called, was widely spread because of its excellent light qualities and usability. It was only taken from the Louis Poulsen catalogue in the 1980s.
More and more pieces re-entered the market over antiques shops and auctions in the past years. This is how the demand raised again with the demand of re-starting the serial production.
The new version remains faithful to its antecedent. However, the colours have been actualized, in order to suit the trend of the time, whereby the manufacturing processes remained the same. The shades are turned by hand and finished with a slight arch at the end, offering volume to it. The brass edition meant a handicraft challenge, being rotated out of a massive brass sheet and polished in the end.
Doo Wop is an unobtrusive and simple pendant lamp that can be used versatile by its middle size, making it possible to use its light for many different purposes. It is harmonic in its design and looks as well excellent hanging alone as in a group.
