Eva Schildt, born 1974, studied furniture and product design at Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm. Following Eva’s graduation in 2001, she received a number of significant design awards including the ‘Excellent Swedish Design Award’ in 2002 for her inspiring Gardener’s sofa and table. The pieces were described by the judges as pure poetry. The sofa is featured in the Design Collection at the National Museum in Stockholm.

In 2004 Eva won a competition to design entrance hall furniture for the Japanese mail order company Askul. Their collaboration continues and has given Eva a valued insight into the demands within different cultures.

“ Everything I do needs to relate to the human body. We relate to our surrounding, furniture needs to relate to us. I prefer soft lines and light shapes. And I like my furniture to be just slightly different, with small unexpected surprises, to evoke curiousness.”
Her commercial work has covered a wide range of commissions including furniture, products, textile design, accessories, packaging and curating. She often draws inspiration from nature, adding a poetic or humorous twist and plays with the forms and objects of our daily life. As well as working as a designer, Eva has been a visiting lecturer at Beckmans School of Design in Stockholm, Iceland’s Academy of the Arts and Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. Clients include Design House Stockholm, Ikea, Klong, Playsam, Simplicitas, Svenskt Tenn, Actus and Askul in Japan and now also Skandium.

Eva has had an extremely successful career to date, her impressive work is showcased in the National Museum of Stockholm and Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg.
