Frank came to illustration through fine art, design through illustration and writing through design. He likes bikes and public transit. As the founder and managing director of Viva & Co., Frank leads the firm’s day-to-day operations. He is a frequent cover artist for The New Yorker magazine and his first book, published by Little, Brown (New York), was a best-seller and a New York Times 10 Best Illustrated Children’s Book selection. His fourth book, Young Frank, Architect, was the first picture book ever created for The Museum of Modern Art’s publications department. Translated from the original English into seven languages, it has gone on to win recognition from American Illustration, AIGA and Communication Arts and has been cited on several “Best of 2013″ lists including the one from The Huffington Post. Frank’s design and writing clients include Le Creuset, Krups, All-Clad and Public Bikes. Since founding Viva & Co. six years ago, his work has been recognized by the D&AD, Communication Arts, the New York Type Directors Club, AIGA and many other organizations. He is also a co-founder of Whigby Inc., a small company that designs and manufactures products that can be found in the MoMA Store, Paul Smith and many other places. He is currently working on his third book for Little, Brown, his second book for MoMA and his first full-length novel for TOON Books.
