Brattrud (born 1933) designed the Scandia range in 1957 as a school project. In 1958 he saw laminated wooden products for the first time on a fair in Germany and understood that this was the right method for industrialising his product range Scandia. He was predicted a very bright future. The chairs Scandia range was manufactured in Norway and distributed all over the world and soon they became true Scandinavian classics. Hans Brattrud had his own design office in Oslo from 1958 until 1963 and developed many projects nationally and internationally.
