Leo Griffin

  • Oct 07, 2019

Born in Birmingham in 1956, Leo Griffin graduated in illustration, design and visual communication from the City of Birmingham Polytechnic (now the University of Central England in Birmingham). After graduation, he worked for a few years in industrial design in his native England before finally arriving in Denmark via Israel following a brief return spell in the UK. For 14 years he held the positions of graphic designer and art director with various advertising agencies in Aarhus and Aalborg before setting up his own design studio in 1993 under the name leogriffin.dk. Initially he worked alone but the business grew steadily and in time the company expanded, taking on a wide range of diverse assignments. At the same time as he turned his hand to visual identity programmes for the corporate sector, Leo Griffin became involved in an area with which he had long flirted but never had enough time to devote himself: industrial design and other projects of a more artistic nature. In addition to developing several series of Christmas decorations for Georg Jensen, his artistic projects include the scenography for the North Jutland Opera Company’s production of Jacques Offenbach’s ‘The Transformed Cat’, decoration for a major Mozart exhibition at KUNSTEN Museum of Modern Art, Aalborg and a rapidly growing production of paintings. Among many other galleries, Leo Griffin has exhibited his work at Kunsthal Nord. Leo Griffin has won numerous design awards, including the European Design Annual’s ’Certificate of Design Excellence’. Leo Griffin is currently Design Director, MDD, at the communications agency Par No1 A/S.
