Miguel Milá

  • by Skandium
  • Oct 07, 2019

Born in Barcelona in 1931, his family from upper level society, Catalan aristocracy was well-connected within the world of art. His uncle, Pedro Milá y Camps, commissioned Gaudí the famous Casa Milá. In 1958, Miguel Milá begins his professional journey within the field of interiorism. The scarcity of objects in the Spain of the 50s inspires him to create his own furniture and lamps. Some of these everyday objects, like his TMC and TMM lamps, are classics today, without having lost any modernism. Along with other designers from the period, he established ADI-FAD, an association dedicated to promoting both Spanish design and promising newcomers internationally. In 1987 he received the National Design Award.
