Description
Fritz Hansen has revitalised the 1969 Super-Ellipse™ table designed by Piet Hein, Bruno Mathsson and Arne Jacobsen, with an enhanced, nanotechnology-based laminate tabletop. The Super-Ellipse™ Table was inspired by the designer Piet Hein's solution to a traffic problem at Sergels Torg in Stockholm: A super elliptical roundabout. The ingenious shape was conceived in his mathematical mind.
Inspired by Piet Hein’s elliptical roundabout at Sergels Torg, a central public square in Stockholm, Sweden. The Extendable Superellipse table can be expanded from a neat table with space for six to a ten-seater for larger gatherings with no obvious ‘head of the table’.
The design’s lack of ends gave the ensuing Table Series a democratic profile, providing everyone around the table an “equal” position. For nearly fifty years, the Table has upheld its reputation as an essential, modern design solution.
