The philosophy behind the Hee Lounge Chair by HAY was to take an archetypal chair and perfect it down to the last detail while cutting the expression to the bone. The goal of designer Hee Welling was to create a contemporary chair that would fit into a wide range of contexts. The attempt was successful, and the Hee series is a pragmatic and easily decoded chair series. Like a line drawing, it wraps metre after metre of metal wire into neat, straight lines.
The metal wire is electro-galvanized before it is lacquered, which makes it rust-resistant and perfect for outdoor use. The chairs can be linked together in rows for conference use, and the new colour scheme keeps the Hee chairs updated.
