London Design Festival 2017: The Skandium Townhouse presents Louis Poulsen

During this year’s London Design Festival, Skandium will celebrate our brand-new retail concept, the Skandium Townhouse, cementing our presence as the foremost destination for Scandinavian design in the UK. The pioneering retail vision will see a four-storey house at 31 Thurloe Place, South Kensington, transformed into a brand-new design destination. The Townhouse is located directly opposite one of our other newly opened stores at 35-36 Thurloe Place, which sells a selection of home accessories, gifts, and one of the largest collections of Scandinavian lighting in London. Working within the natural scale of a home, the Skandium Townhouse will display room sets designed to inspire shoppers and demonstrate the unique character of Scandinavian living. The residential-meets-retail space will be populated with Skandium’s engaging mix of modernist masterpieces and future classics, expertly curated for the design conscious and the curious. Before we move in, during this year’s London Design Festival, the Skandium Townhouse will have a fitting inauguration with a takeover by renowned designers, GamFratesi. The pair have created an in-store installation around their new YUH collection for Louis Poulsen, which illustrates how Scandinavian lighting and furniture design can shape, frame and affect the ambiance of a room. In addition to the YUH collection, the Townhouse will display the world premiere of a new, limited-edition PH 31/2-3 pendant light from Louis Poulsen.
To the rear of the Townhouse we have created a beautiful garden with Danish brand, Skagerak, whose pieces are characterised by craftsmanship, environmental sustainability and warm and inviting aesthetic qualities.

The exhibition will be open to the public for the duration of the festival, from 16th - 24th September. Public opening hours are: Mon-Sat 10:00 - 18:30, Sun 11:00 - 17:00 A glass of prosecco will be served in our Skagerak Garden Mon-Sat between 5-6pm, and Sun between 4-5pm.
