J16 rocking chair

By Fredericia

  • Description

Designed in 1944, Wegner 's rocker with the sensually curved arms was inspired by traditional Windsor and Shaker furniture, fused with Wegner’s poetic lines. The J16 is the undisputed classic among the many rocking chairs designed by Hans J. Wegner over the years. Ask a Dane to think of a rocking chair and they will most probably have the image of this chair in mind. Introduced by FDB Furniture in 1944 it has been in production ever since. In his chair design, Wegner stressed the importance of freedom of movement and ergonomics – as epitomised by the rocking chair. It is a much-cherished setting for reading, knitting and even nursing babies.
