    Candles are a ubiquitous source for light and warmth in Scandinavia. The common typology dates back hundreds of years but is still relevant today in the long winters where daylight is short. The steel rod overlaps at one point to create a continuous line accomodating a handle and holder in the same contruction.

  • Designer
    Shane Schneck
    Office for Design was founded by American designer Shane Schneck who develops products that range from chairs to mobile devices. The work of the studio is characterized by creating pragmatic products that are 'compositions in function'. The result is design that merges contemporary needs and new technologies with simplicity, ease of use and lasting value.

    Shane's background in architecture (BA, Miami Univ. Oxford OH) informs his multidisciplinary approach that led him to Milan Italy in 1999 to collaborate with Piero Lissoni. Clients and work include Alessi, Boffi, Cappellini, Flos, Fritz Hansen, Huawei Technologies, Ikea and Yale. The studio now based in Stockholm, has been presented at St. Etienne Design Biennale, Salone Satellite (*Wallpaper Best new group and Design Report nominee), Promosedia selection by Invitation and was recently awarded the IF Gold Award for Innovation.
