PK80™ Anniversary daybed

By Fritz Hansen

  • Description

A grand anniversary from a grand designer rarely comes alone. In 2016, the iconic easy chair PK22™ by Poul Kjærholm turned 60. This year, we are pleased to celebrate the PK80™ daybed and its 60 years of greatness. Staying true to Poul Kjærholm's impeccable sense of interpreting the natural materials, the anniversary daybed has simply been upholstered with Royal Nubuck - known from the anniversary edition of the PK22. Create continuity by combining the two Poul Kjærholm classics in similar shades - or indulge yourself in the renowned daybed as it represents a sculpture on its own.

The anniversary edition is sold in stores for a limited period of 12 months, which runs from September 1st 2017 until September 1st 2018.

  • Designer
    Poul Kjærholm

Unlike most other Danish furniture designers of the 1950s, Kjærholm used stainless steel and aluminium as the basis for his designs often combined with leather or wicker for chairs and glass or slate for tables. Inspired by the modernist work of le Corbusier and Breuer, Kjærholm's designs are highly elegant with great attention to details.

His best work were made between the mid 1950s and late 1960s, yet the designs all have such integrity that they stand above any particular era. His most well known design is the PK22 easy chair which have been extensively used at the Copenhagen international airport Kastrup, a fitting place for an object which is truly international in its design. Poul Kjærholm became a professor at the Royal Art academy in Copenhagen in 1976.
