Limited edition CH24 Wishbone chair - Ancient Oak

  • Description

Carl Hansen & Søn presents a unique edition of Hans J. Wegner’s legendary Wishbone Chair in celebration of the designer’s 104th birthday on April 2, 2018. The chair is crafted from oak that has been specially treated to recreate the distinctively warm, dark-brown colour of thousand-year-old bog oak.

As this oak is extremely rare, Carl Hansen & Søn employed modern processing and natural dyeing techniques to recreate its special qualities and develop the new Ancient Oak variant. Over several weeks of treatment, new oak has been transformed
inside and out, taking on the signature warm, rich and dark brown hue of its thousand-year-old counterpart.

This is the first time that Carl Hansen & Søn is presenting Hans J. Wegner’s Wishbone Chair in Ancient Oak. The special birthday edition adds another chapter to the story of this iconic chair, which has been in continuous production at Carl Hansen & Søn since 1950. The chair is fitted with a brass plate engraved with Wegner’s signature and will be delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

    Only limited stock available.
