Rice Paper Lamps

Rice paper lamps may have been around for thousands of years, but they are as modern today as when they were invented in China. Thanks to the thin rice paper, these shades give plenty of soft light inside your home. These clever and eco-friendly options are just as attractive and durable as other lampshades, with the added bonus of being safe for disposal. Choose a grouping of classic shades in different sizes to hang from the ceiling, or a floor lamp to give your home a stylish Asian feel.

HAY

HAY’s Rice Paper Lampshades are made from lightweight paper and built on a ribbed bamboo frame. The soft light they emit means they can be used anywhere in the home. Choose between different shapes - round, oblong, and ellipse - as well as different sizes.

VIPP

The Paper series of floor and pendant lamps draw their inspiration from traditional rice paper lamps from Asia, and it is not only the design that has its roots far back.

Through the actual manufacturing method of the paper, old paper handling methods are used, which also give each and every paper lamp its own unique look and expression. With its thin steel wire and a transparent cord, Vipp’s pendant lamps are so light they seem almost to float.  The inner metal lattice and the top ring in solid oak give strength and stability to the lamps. The VIPP581 Floor Lamp rests on a support of dark brown powder-coated aluminium and the paper at the top is fixed with a rink of dark oak, giving a warm light. There is also the popular VIPP586 paper pendant to choose from.
