Turning table by Menu[/caption] For Spring/Summer 2016, Menu carried on this notion with their latest concept entitled Modernism Reimagined. Drawing inspiration from the late great modernists of our time, spanning both architecture and design – the collection additions delve further into creating cleaver solutions for modern living, made up of considered lighting, furniture and accessories.
Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen, Creative Director, Menu: "Menu’s ambition with their Spring/Summer 2016 collection is to celebrate the inherent elegance of natural materials, from the exquisite imperfections of wood and leather to the shiny surfaces of metal, that with time, unveil their beauty as they patinise. The warmth of natural materials and earthy tones are applied in a variety of outcomes to create an atmosphere of timelessness, understated elegance." The Modernist style has infused every form of design, from architecture to product design, graphics, illustration, art and music always been an important influence to people within the creative industry. The modernists movement of the 1920’s did not just come up with design concepts but most importantly searched to find solutions for architecture, environment, sociological and emotional reinventions for society. The motto was, 'better living for everyone’.
Menu summaries what Modernism Reimagined means to them as a modern Danish design company: "In Scandinavian design, including Danish Modern, it emerged in its full bloom in the aftermath of the Second World War, a period when architects and designers dreamed of a new and better world. Decades after the inception of its unique 'spirit', it still seems relevant to question superfluous ornamentation. The masters of Modernism believed that design and technology would shape the future and transform society, an ethos that is valued and nurtured in everything we do, at Menu."
