Skandium Manufacturing part two

Skandium Manufacturing part two - Skandium London

After releasing their first product, mirror "Lumi", Skandium Manufacturing felt it was high time to enter the world of drawers.

- Drawers because there can never be enough of them in this country where there are no inbuilt cupboards (unless, of course, you are a multi millionaire and build your own little "walk in closet") says Chrystina Schmidt, Creative Director.

The challenge for Skandium Manufacturing was to find a simple box-shaped form and reinvent it, make it simple, yet not boring. The choice of designer fell on Harri Koskinen, the master of  non design. A palette of black, white and red were chosen so the drawer  easily can be mixed with all sorts of different wood in interior design.

-The edges of the drawer are round so we thought that the name should be soft and round as well, preferably starting with a round B.  That is how the name Bello came in mind. And the series came out very pretty so Bello also reflects how proud we feel, says Chrystina Schmidt.

In this very moment Skandium Manufacturing has finished the work with a sofa table made of metal and stone.

 - Super simple and wonderfully non designed, promises Chrystina, and reveals another sofa table this one in wood, and a floor mirror are soon to be released.

During London Design Festival 17-25 September 2011, Skandium Manufacturing will release a stool for two from Swedish super architect trio Claesson Koivisto Rune in connection with a retrospective exhibition at Skandium's Brompton Road store about their work.
