Marimekko

Marimekko hit the fashion and furnishing textiles headlines in the 60's with their large bold prints in bright colours, very different from anything seen before. Two designers in particular, Vuokko Nurmesniemi with bold stripes and Maija Isola with with large simple flowered prints such as the Unikko Poppy created hundreds of distinctive patterns and helped to make Marimekko a household name across the world.

For seventy years, the unmistakable Marimekko striped, checked, and floral prints in bold colors have made up a rich artistic legacy. Over the years, their designers have created some 3,500 print designs, which have graced everything from dresses and bags to ceramics, fabrics, and more. The iconic prints have been reborn time and again in thousands of imaginative color palettes. And new pieces of printed artworks are introduced to an ever-evolving collection.
