Axel Bjurström has a talent for reimagining everyday objects, always exploring ways to improve, tweak, and make them desirable again. Whether it’s a mirror with a lasso or a flat-screen TV on an easel, Axel seeks out hidden features to highlight, giving materials and functionality a fresh perspective. His interest in design sparked during his time as a project manager for fashion brand Filippa K. Since graduating from the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2007, he has worked on a variety of product designs and interior architecture.

Today, Axel focuses primarily on furniture, where his simple, functional designs continue the Scandinavian tradition. “A key trend today is making offices feel more like home, and I believe the division between work and home is no longer as relevant,” he says. Axel has won the Elle Decoration Swedish Design Award twice—first in 2012 as Newcomer of the Year and later in 2015 for Best Chair.
