When tubular steel first appeared on the scene in the furniture sector in the1920s, architect Marcel Breuer created the famous table set B 9 using this new material. The various chair models were developed afterwards. The Thonet catalog from 1930/31 already included a large range of side furniture, designed by Breuer and other architects - and also by Thonet. The series includes: B 97, a set consisting of two low side tables. They can be pushed into one another. When needed they are individually placed next to armchairs, sofas or beds. Due to the opening on one side, they can be pulled over the edge of a sofa or bed.
