Designed by Hans J. Wegner in 1950 as one of the first models created especially for Carl Hansen & Son and is so popular it has been in production ever since. Casually classic, the CH25 chair derives a sense of lightness from its tapered legs and the dynamic angle of its back legs. Like so many of Wegner's other iconic designs, it is simple and clean with a distinctive shape.
It is a supremely comfortable easy chair that is equally at home beside a coffee table or standing on its own.

It caused a stir when it was introduced due to Wegner's choice of materials on the backrest and seat. The woven paper cord, developed during WWII as a replacement for seagrass had never been used on furniture before. However, Wegner was enthusiastic about the look of the material and its non-stretching and optimal durability, and so were generations after him.
It takes a skilled craftsman 10 hours and approximately 400 meters of paper cord to complete one seat and backrest by hand, using a particular technique resembling weaving, which is visible on both sides of the backrest. The striking result of this exacting process is an exceptional chair that is fascinating from all angles.

The seat is suspended from the front legs in a construction that is both beautiful and practical, allowing the paper cord weave to continue uninterrupted around the seat.
Paper cord on the seat and on both sides of the back. Approximately 300 m of cord are used in a unique weave that hides knots. It takes a skilled weaver between 8 and 12 hours to complete.
