Initially, Arne Jacobsen designed the Ant™ in 1952 for the canteen at Novo Nordic, an international Danish healthcare company. Today, the Ant™ is one of the prominent icons of the Fritz Hansen collection. Originally, the Ant™ was, however, close to ending up as just another prototype, because Fritz Hansen wasn't convinced of the chair's potential. The chair survived the initial scepticism, when Arne Jacobsen guaranteed to buy all chairs produced, if no one else would. Despite its minimalist form and svelte shape, the Ant™ is an extremely comfortable chair.

  • Dimensions:
    W:51 x D:48 x H:78cm (Seat height: 44cm)

    Shell in laminated, moulded veneer. The outer veneer is sliced maple, beech or dark-stained oak except in lacquer and lazur. Choose from an extensive palette of colours and finishes.
    The base is 14 mm steel tube with 3 legs (model 3100) or 4 legs (model 3101) with leg ferrules in a black-grey synthetic material.
