Carl Hansen & Søn CH26 Dining Chair
The CH26 Dining Chair, designed in 1950 by Hans J. Wegner, was originally conceived alongside the CH22 Lounge Chair but was never produced during his lifetime. Rediscovered through Wegner’s original hand-drawn sketches, the CH26 has finally been brought to life by Carl Hansen & Søn, staying true to his vision with only subtle adjustments for modern use.
Sharing a clear kinship with the CH22, the CH26 features sculptural armrests and sweeping supports that highlight Wegner’s characteristic organic style. Unlike the CH22, the CH26 was designed specifically as a dining or desk chair, with carefully considered proportions for seated comfort, table height, and structural stability.
Reissued today, the CH26 is built in exact accordance with Wegner’s drawings, with one minor adaptation: the chair has been raised by two centimeters to suit contemporary table heights and today’s taller users.
